Fixed income is an investment approach that is largely focused on the preservation of capital and income. These investments are typically government and corporate bonds, CDs and money market funds. Such investments are considered safe and serve as a method for the preservation of wealth. However, as with all investment approaches, there are risks associated with fixed income investing, particularly in the face of rising interest rates and inflation. Members of the sector will learn how to navigate the fixed-income market through the development of macroeconomic views of both the short and long run. As part of a greater initiative to network and gain exposure to real-world applications, the fixed income sector will organize and host guest speakers. Through all of these learning avenues, members will be equipped with greater knowledge and skills to build out the fund’s portfolio.
