Founded in 1966 and rebranded in 2022, the Trinity College Student Investment Fund (TCSIF) is a fund organized and managed by students at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. The fund operates as a buy-side management firm, and members oversee $900,000 of Trinity’s endowment. Beyond the fund itself, TCSIF places a strong emphasis on the education of members through mentorship, programming, and sector initiatives. We seek to enhance students’ investment aptitudes and to assist them in their development of the skills necessary for success in roles across the financial services industry.

Members begin as analysts in one of the four sectors that comprise the fund’s Investment branch: Alternative Investments, Domestic Equities, International Equities, and Fixed Income. Each is led by an experienced member who holds weekly meetings where analysts heighten their market awareness and gain technical knowledge of their sector’s focus. Sectors are responsible for monitoring the performance of their positions in our portfolio. Leaders and analysts are also tasked with the identification of new investment opportunities and with providing “buy,” “hold,” or “sell” recommendations to TCSIF’s leadership.

In addition to TCSIF’s sector-based initiatives, members also have the ability to join the fund’s Wall Street Professional Development (WSPD) branch. WSPD consists of the Investment Banking Prep groups, the Women in Finance group, and the Diversity in Finance group. As students become involved with these groups, they gain access to tailored resources and distinct mentorship opportunities that similarly aid in their preparation for roles in the financial services industry.
